Jerry and I served on the planning commission together for a couple of years, and our paths crossed many times since then. From the community renewal area to the downtown strategy, even when the process was frustrating, Jerry’s easy-going attitude made him a delight to work with, and a very capable community advocate.
He and I both grew up in Portland and shared a lot of memories of our hometown.
I will remember Jerry being thoughtful and considerate, yet resolute in defense of his values. He was a natural mentor without trying to be. His style of combining data and logic with a lot of heart is something that I aspire to.
Rest easy, Jerry. And thank you.
